Sarah Vuolo, DVM
Education: U of I DVM 2006
Internship: VCA Aurora and Berwyn, Chicago, IL 2006-2007
Dr. Vuolo joined FVARC and GBAEC in the summer of 2006 as an emergency veterinarian.
Growing up in the Chicago suburbs, Dr. Vuolo developed a love for animals earlier in her life. Prior to veterinary school, Dr. Vuolo worked as a seasonal keeper at Brookfield Zoo in Chicago for multiple summers, working with domestic, native, and exotic species.
During her education at the University of Illinois (Go Illini!) in Champaign-Urbana, Dr. Vuolo did extensive off campus externships, including spending time in Oahu, Hawaii at a private practice and at various Zoological Institutions, such as Kansas City Zoo. She also participated in the HSUS Rural Area Veterinary Services which provides low cost veterinary care to underprivileged areas.
After graduation, Dr. Vuolo completed a one-year rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery, with a majority of her time spent working in the emergency department in a large referral practice outside Chicago. She also presented a research abstract on Toxicological Emergencies in Small Animal Practice during this time.
After her internship, she and her husband relocated to the Fox Valley area due to their love of water sports and the outdoors. They loved the small town feel of the area but with all the fun and conveniences of the big city. They also love going to the dog park with their greyhound, Jimmy. Dr. Vuolo looks forward to providing the highest standard of care and compassion to her patients. |
