Dr. Christopher Mau joined Horizon Veterinary Services upon the opening of the Green Bay Animal Emergency Center in 1999. Since joining our team, he has practiced medicine at both the Green Bay and Fox Valley locations. He achieved the honor of becoming a full partner of the Green Bay Animal Emergency Center in June 2003. Originally from Chicago, Dr. Mau was happy to move his family to the Green Bay/Fox Cities area, especially since his wife is a native of Northern Wisconsin.
Professionally, Dr. Mau has particular interest in treating animals in life-threatening emergencies that can arise from diabetes, Addison’s disease or other endocrine disorders. He finds it rewarding to be able to stabilize the animal in crisis and comfort the owner. Another favorite procedure for Dr. Mau is removing intestinal foreign bodies from the bellies of animals with unusual eating habits.
Dr. Mau is dedicated to bringing the highest standards of patient care to the Green Bay Animal Emergency Center; his goal is to achieve 24-hour emergency and referral status. He anticipates reaching board certification in either emergency and critical care or surgery, thus providing the benefits of a board certified veterinarian in Green Bay.
Dr. Mau also is active in the veterinary community outside the clinic. He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Wisconsin Veterinary Medical Association, and serves on the WVMA Grievance Committee. He has been a member of the Emergency and Critical Care Society since 1998.
Outside of work, Dr. Mau enjoys fishing and golfing with his sons, Tyler and Ryan. Good with garden tools as well as a scalpel, Dr. Mau is an avid gardener. He also loves relaxing on the patio with his wife, Lisa, and their friends to enjoy the Wisconsin weather, and is rumored to play a mean game of poker. The Mau zoo includes two black Labradors: Jake and Zipper; and three cats: Bandit, Whiskers and Kissa (Swedish for "cat").
Dr. Mau has made significant contributions to the high standards and growth of the Green Bay Animal Emergency Center. His passion for animal health and friendly, down-to-earth bedside manner are central to his excellence as a veterinarian.
