Dr. VanEnkevort joined the Fox Valley Animal Referral Center in 1996 as one of its four founding veterinarians. Prior to the inception of the Referral Center, Dr. VanEnkevort served as a clinical instructor in orthopedic surgery at the University of Wisconsin Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital.
As the first board certified veterinary surgeon in the area, Dr. VanEnkevort has been instrumental in bringing a comprehensive scope of cutting edge surgical techniques to pets and pet owners in the Fox Valley, Northeastern Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. His experience is derived from more than 5,000 diverse orthopedic and general surgical procedures performed throughout his career.
Dr. VanEnkevort’s professional interests include orthopedic surgery; total hip replacement; cruciate ligament repair: Tibeal Plateau Leveling Osteotomy and extracapsular techniques; fracture repair; surgical treatment of complex angular limb deformities; developmental and congenital diseases of the joints; general surgery; thoracic/cardiovascular; urogenital; gastrointestinal; oncologic; neurologic surgery; spinal surgery: fractures, luxations, disc herniations and neoplasia; and MRI and myelography.
Dr. VanEnkevort and his wife, Suzanne, have two children, Emma and Evan. When the pager is turned off, the family escapes to their cottage up north for outdoor recreation. Dr. VanEnkevort’s pastimes are fishing, hiking, biking and skiing with his family. He also is an avid runner and is working toward a black belt in karate.
